Bu Bye

We have officially said good bye to the beloved Binky. Well actually we did it a couple months ago, but, I'm not very good a keeping you all updated on the happenings around here so...two months ago we officially said good bye to the Binky. It was a sad sad day. I was really dreading taking it away it made her so happy , and things so easy for me, and Mia's doctor told me at her 15mo. appointment that by 18 months I should take it away. Well I had every intention of letting her have it until she was 2, but then I got pregnant and when the baby is born she will be 2 and 2 mo. so, I decided so that it didn't seem like I was taking her Binky away from her to give it to the baby, I would take it way sooner not at 18 months but 19/20 , so that is what I did. I got the Idea to cut the tip of it off so that she would decide she didn't like it anymore from my cousin. (Thanks Lins) It worked like a charm...sort of... She put it in her mouth and immediately took it out and started spitting, then handed it to me and very sadly said bee bee (which is how she says Binky) and that was it, she never wanted it again. Putting her to bed used to be so easy, no crying nothing, just give her her Binky and all was well. I got to a point where I would only give it to her at nap and bed times, so I think sometimes she was more than happy to get into her bed, just so she could have her Binky. But now even still she cries and cries, or sometimes screams when we put her in bed, usually just for a minute or less, but sometimes it will be for what seems like forever (like 5 or even 10 min.) So bed times are still a little rough, but even if we are at someone else's house and she finds a Binky, she won't put it in her mouth, she'll come bring it to me and say bee bee.

One is the loneliest number....

I wanted to make this post cute and creative, but because of a combo of busyness, fatigue and a broken camera, this will have to do, because this simply needs to be done.

We are expecting # 2 Aug. 16.

I know a lot of you already know, my dad unofficially announced it in our family letter a while ago, and I know my mom is so excited, she has been telling everyone. I'm only 16 weeks but I look like I'm 20-25, so everyone in my ward knows, but for those of you who didn't... now you do.

We found out on Monday that it's a boy and we're really excited. I'm a little nervous, because I only know girl so far, and I have brothers, or I guess I should say I have a Jeffrey brother. (anyone who knows him, knows what I mean ;o)) And now this also means I have to get all new stuff, well at least clothes. We tried to pick things like the car seat & stroller, that were gender neutral, so we're in pretty good shape.

BEAUTIFUL SEDONA ARIZONA

So Lance and I aren't very big Valentines Day people, but we usually try to go all out for our anniversary. Every year we switch off who is in charge of planning it, and usually it is a surprise for the other person what we are doing, or where we are going. Last year Lance surprised me and took me to a B&B up in the mountains in AZ, the place was very beautiful, but my recommendation is unless you have to...don't stay at a bed and breakfast, we felt like we were staying a t a strangers house, it was weird. So this year was my turn to plan. I surprised Lance with a trip to Sedona. It was beautiful! Along with our hotel reservation I bought a "Romance Package" it included 2 tickets for an off roding Jeep tour, a $50 gift card for a very nice restaurant, That didn't 'cover out tab, we had an appetizer, a steak dinner for two, and 1 desert, we had to pay $6 out of our pocket, but that was fine and the package also included 2 Mugs. -romantic don't you think? Not so much, but what ev. I also made a reservation for a couples massage, it was a first for both of us, and I totally recommend it. (kinda pricey though)We had tons of fun, there are thousands of touristy shops, hundreds of great places to eat, the scenery is amazing, beautiful red rocks. We want to go back again and this time go camping and do some hiking and stuff.

here we are on our"pink jeep tour" it was sooooo cold & I for got to pack Lance a sweatshirt, so we were scrambling around trying to find one at the last minute that wasn't like $50. I only had a sweater because I happened to be waring one when we left the house.

If you know lance this won't surprise you at all, he loves to make everything we do a surprise for me, so even though it was my turn to surprise Lance he couldn't' help himself. I had told him that I was spending a lot of money for our trip and it was for both of us, so I said don't get me a gift. Our room had a Jacuzzi tub (this picture is just for your entertainment -it's Lance by the way.)

and lance lit some candles and "tricked" me into taking a bath, when I got out our room was covered in paper roses, (because we couldn't afford real ones) one for every day we've been married. He'd been working on them for months at work while he talked to his students on the phone. Anyway he hid 2 pieces of jewelry in 2 of the roses & I had to pick them up one by one to find them. Sorry it's not a good pic. but the room was literally covered in these flowers.

I Know I look awesome, but I had just gotten out of a huge bubbling bath tub. It was a lot of fun.

Here are my rewards. Lance is always so thoughtful, I love him tons. Happy 3 years to us.

A Couple Crafty Items

Here are some of the things I have been working on in Mia's room.
This is just some paper mache letters that I covered in scrap book paper, & decorated with other some other stuff, I am pleased with how it came out.


And this is her light. We got it from Ikea and I painted it. I painted the bands (or what ever you want to call them) Green because originally it was going to be a vine with flowers & stuff on it but both Lance & Nate didn't like that idea, so it ended up splattered, had that been my original plan I wouldn't have chosen green I would have gone with purple. But you can't win them all. I've had some fun trying to decorate her room, I've framed a few things (not crafty & therefore not blog worthy) and I picked out a super cute comforter, but it will have to wait until she is out of the crib and in a big girl bed. Which by the way reminds me,when should I take her out of the crib? Then when I do that how do I get her to stay in her bed? Any mom's have any advise?

We got the truck back yesterday, it looks great! & I forgot to mention that on top of taking the brunt of the accident they were sighted for making an illegal left turn. Bad day for them, I didn't even get a slap on the wrist for not having my licence with me. One more blessing for me that day I guess. Thank you for all your concern, it was probably the worst day of my whole life, but I am doing just fine now.

First a little history: My Brother Nate moved in with us a few months ago (Nov.) and he has been driving Lance's truck, just until he can buy himself a car. (yes, he does pay us, we're not that generous) But we do enjoy him being with us.

SO that being said... On Dec. 10 (my anniversary) I had a doctors apointment so I needed a car, I got up early and took Nate to work so that I would have one. I rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth and left. I dropped him off safely. Then on my way back I was going through an intersection and the light turned yellow & a PT Cruiser made a left turn right in front of me, I slammed on my breaks, but slid right in to them none the less. It was Horrible. There was nothing I could do to avoid it.

OUCH!!!!

I hit a Man and his wife, his wife was in the passenger seat. This happened shortly after 7 am on a Wednesday this intersection was pretty crowded, there were at least 20+ people who witnessed it, and NOBODY stopped!!! Obviously this was a bad accident a Ford F350 (a big truck) just plowed into a PT Cruiser (a small car)!!!! Since I had just rolled out of bed and gotten in the car with Nate, I didn't have my purse or phone, the couple didn't have a cell phone either. I Had to flag someone down, to call 911. And I am not kidding when I say 15 people just drove right by me. Finally a Taxi stopped (go figure) and I asked him to call, he did and it only took a couple minutes for them to come. WARNING- this next part is not for the weak stomached, skip to the next paragraph. The Jaws of life had to be used to get her out because the door wouldn't open and part of the door actually was insider her leg, you could see it (her leg guts) through the door. It was awful.

The ambulance took the couple away, but I had to stay until they heard back weather or not "she made it" I couldn't 'believe it she might die! (Then they would have to call in the CSI for car accidents) I guess they had to determine if she had cut a main artery in her leg, then she would have had the possibility of loosing too much blood. I got to leave at 9:30 the word being that they were going to have to cut off her leg. (relief, but still bad news, at least she wasn't 'going to die)

I walked a way with nothing. the next day I was just a tiny bit stiff, I've had worse from sleeping wrong. The driver of the PT just had a few scratches from all the broken glass, and after talking to their insurance people, she didn't loose her leg, she shattered her knee cap and had a pretty nasty gash that was almost the whole length of her thigh. The whole rest of the day the accident just kept replaying over and over in my head, every time I tried to close my eyes it was all I could see. Lance took the day off and took care of Mia , and for 2 days after I had a hard time getting behind the wheel, and for quite a while (and sometimes still) I get tense when going through a yellow light. It was a huge blessing 1-that I was driving the truck not the Camry, 2-I was alone, that never happens, Mia is usually with me, and 3- ultimately everyone was just fine. We were all being looked over that day. It is Jan. 3 and I'm still driving a rental car, but we should have the truck back on Monday.

I have a thousand (OK, not a thousand, but enough to hear a nagging in the back of my head) things to blog about, but not enough time to do the whole putting the pictures on my computer and blah, blah, blah. You know the drill. So this is a post promising posts about the following things:
