This is War!

I just went out on our balcony this morning to do some things, and you won't believe this but there are 2 more pigeon eggs! Things are about to get serious and drastic measures will need to be taken. Any advise?

So we had this pigeon make a nest, well this pile of sticks, on our balcony (storage area) first there was just one egg, then a week later there were two eggs. Of course I did not want this pigeon nest on our balcony, but I thought it would be fun to watch them hatch. I also didn't want to kill any of the birds or eggs, so I decided that as soon as the egg hatched and the bird left the nest, we would get rid of it. Then I did a little research on line about pigeons and their reproduction habits. They lay 1 - 2 eggs in 2 weeks the eggs hatch, then the baby birds stay in the nest for 6WEEKS! That's 8+ weeks of nasty birds on my porch. But I sucked it up because I wanted to be nice to these birds. I peeked in on then every day to see if they had hathced yet.

Finally the first egg hatches, the second egg never does, somehow a couple weeks after the one hatched the second just disappeared. The baby bird was the ugliest thing I had ever seen, so that was kind of disappointing, that I put up with all of the pigeons poo on my porch for a very ugly bird, and now I have to wait 6 more weeks before I can get these birds and their poo off my porch.

Despite all the poo that you can see, it was pretty amazing how quickly this ugly little baby bird turned into what looked like an adult pigeon. Shortly after we could tell that all of the little baby down feathers had fallen off we thought we could finally get rid of all the mess. NO! 2 more eggs showed up in that nasty pile of a nest! I was really disappointed, because this picture does not do the amount of mess that those dang birds made justice, so Lance being the wonderful husband that he is took care of everything.

WE ARE EXCITED TO INTRODUCE GARREK MICHAEL PETERSON My sister Kari and her husband Mike have FINALLY made Lance and I an aunt & Uncle, and Mia a cousin! Garrek was born in Rexburg, Idaho, on May 15, 2008 (exactly 11 months to the day younger that Mia) weighing in at 6 lbs. and 15 oz. and 19 1/2 in. long. We are happy that both mom and baby are home and healthy. Welcome to the family little guy! My mom & dad are now the proud grandparents of 2.

Easter

Our Easter was very good, but a Little anti climactic. Some Family Friends from Idaho surprised us with a visit so in an effort to see them and see family we had to split our time, so we missed the Easter egg hunt and Mia didn't get to hunt eggs on her first Easter, but she had a super cute dress (Thank You Grandma) and had a lot of fun with Auntie Coli.

For my birthday present, my parents flew us to CA for Easter Mia was so good on the flight there, the flight back...well it was totally packed and she has to sit on my lap...it was a whole different story, luckily we sat next to a really nice guy who was very patient through her crying and touching him. Good thing it's a short flight from CA to AZ.

We went to Carlsbad to see the tide pools and there was nothing in them, but muscles and annenimies (how do you spell that?), it was disappointing, but Mia got to play in the Ocean for the first time. She loves to Swim in swimming pools, but the water was so cold and totally different from a pool that I thought she wouldn't like it, but she loved it, in fact she would cry when we tried to take her out, she even loved being in the sand. Too bad I didn't bring her swimming suit she could have had even more fun.

Oh how cute... when Lance told Mia to look at the waves, she waved. She's so cute. We love her so much!

My Apologies and Thanks

I just want to say that I am sorry for being a flaky blogger. I have made new goals for myself to set aside a little bit of time every week to add to my blog, look at other peoples blogs and you know just fulfill my blogging responsibilities. I also want to say thank you to those of you who have kept checking my blog just to see if there have been any changes. Thanks for not giving up on me.

Quick Catch Up

We were a family of witches for Halloween. fun huh. I wanted Mia to be something that babies usually aren't for Halloween, so after tons of searching for a costume she was a witch for her first Halloween. You can't really tell, but Mia and my dresses are the same. and I made her broom. I'm so crafty. (lol)

we spent Christmas in California, It was tons of fun, we spent a little bit of time with Lance's family but since we did Thanksgiving with the Thorson's we spent most of the time with the Marler's. We went to the Wild Animal Park and Bates nut Farm and had a lot of fun. I was the one taking all the pictures so naturally I am not in any of them. don't worry you guys aren't missing out on anything.

My Family came to AZ for Thanksgiving, and we went to Utah. wasn't that convenient, we got to spend a day with them before we left, so we went on a small hike to a cool rock near our house, so here is Mia waring her "I'd rather be hangin' with grandpa" T-Shirt that my dad got her with her auntie Coli and Uncle Jeffy.

We went to Utah and spent Thanksgiving with Lances Mom's side of the family. We stayed in the Timp Lodge in or near Provo, Utah.

We spent New years Eve in Pine Arizona playing Rock Band, pretty much it's the funnest game ever. And when 12 rolled around we enjoyed some fireworks and Mia slept through the whole thing.

We hiked Camelback mountain with our friends Mike & Bianca Marshall, it was the hardest hike I have ever done! the Subway in Zion National Park is long and parts of it are difficult (the end) But with Camelback the whole thing is physically challenging. and we went into it thinking it was going to be a trail and it would take an hour or less (so that is what we planned for) But it took 3 or 4 hours and it was climbing big rocks up hill the whole time. I need to give huge props to Lance for carrying Mia the whole way and Bianca for doing the whole thing pregnant.

We moved to a new apartment it is just 1/4 mile a way from our old one, but we did it in hopes that we could save a little more money and get into a house sooner. This apt. is not as nice as our old one, but it does have some perks, like it has 2 bedrooms, and 2 1/2 baths, it's actually a townhouse, it doesn't have as much storage as our old place, but we are saving $ living there. Hopefully we'll be in a house by Christmas. Mia loves climbing up the stairs, it's just unfortunate that she hasn't figured out how to go down, fortunately we haven't had any big tumbles.
